Seriously...I learned the hard way. It IS possible to be sore in your arm pits.
Recently I have started back up on my health kit, much due to having about 4 weddings in a row that I am either in attendance or apart of. Also, work just hooked me up with an amazing workout facility, personal trainers and nutritionist included - for free!
After I say that, I hate personal trainers. They are the demon spawn of exercise. Every trainer I have had, loves and relishes in making my life miserable for an hour every day, and also the following two days when I cannot walk or stand without looking like I rode a horse for 10 hours. But I am starting to come to the realization that this is developing into a love/hate relationship. I hate going - love the results. I've been there for about 3 or 4 weeks now and I am already feeling the difference, I feel stronger, faster, and I swear my love handles have shrunk. So those buttheads really do know what they're doing. UGH.
So for anyone considering a trainer, try it, you just might like it.

Big City vs Small Town
I have recently relocated to Omaha, NE from Storm Lake, IA and Ida Grove, both being my home for awhile. But I was just home in Ida Grove yesterday for Mother's Day and while I walked around the grocery store with my dad I was shocked to see how many people I knew, and how many of them had gotten fat. I was blown away. (Did you know by 2035 they predict over 60% of the nation will be obese. It's depressing) But I turned to my dad and asked, "Dad, when did everyone get so fat in IG?" his reply? "Nobody got fat, we've always been fat here" Which made him and I have a discussion of small town vs big city living. Why are people in smaller towns fatter than big city people?
Is it the social norm in small towns to not care about how you look as much as our fair "cosmopolitan" cities that care about how they look and judge each other by the number on the scale? Another thing I don't understand I have x amounts of options to eat fast food and unhealthy foods everyday, and every day is a struggle to say no. So shouldn't it be easier to be healthier in a town that has less options? Like out of sight out of mind?
I would love to see a study on this someday and see the results. But in any case I plan on going out today after work and making myself stay in the 40% of our future who will not tip those scary scales some day.
Peace, love, and wind sprints

Kid at heart
Guess what! I did it.
I ate a veggie at dinner last night. I made broccoli with cheese and baked salmon topped with turkey bacon. I am probably going to be a 5 star chef soon. That's one day in the books and I am proud of myself.
But I had to rave about this. http://www.defygravityusa.com/
Remember being a kid and spending hours upon hours jumping with your friends, or going to your friends house to jump on their trampoline? God, that was hours of fun when I was young. Then I started to grow up and didn't find time to play, or I was too "cool" to go jump on a trampoline. How idiotic of me.
Well, I'm grown up now, and I am here to saying jumping on trampolines is cool. Plus you can burn a crap ton of calories doing it. I say this because I went to this awesome place in Papillion called Defy Gravity. Its an indoor jump house with TONS of trampolines put together to make one huge court. There is dodgeball, lazer tag, open jump, fitness classes, this place has everything you need to be a little kid and burn some calories doing it. I know this because I went earlier this week and within 15 minutes I was sweating like a pig and my boyfriend was ready to barf. I had tons of fun and enjoyed being active. I suggest anyone in the Omaha metro area go try this place out to see what it is all about. It wont be disappointing.

Backslider
Ok ok, I get it, I haven't posted in AGES. get off me. My life has been super busy, I recently started a new job, I'm now the Marketing and Competitions Coordinator for the Omaha Sports Academy...shameless plug. So I've been dealing with that a lot lately trying to fit in, which is pretty well honestly.
I love my job, who wouldn't love getting to spend all day immersing ones self in basketball. I've always lived and breathed sports, now I just get paid to do it, which I think makes me a professional athlete; maybe. But I'm rambling so I shall get to the point.
Backsliding.
We've all done it. I recently was watching a television show I have become obsessed with called, "New Girl" It is a witty comedy that makes me smile and I think everyone should watch it to be a little bit happier with their lives. I heard the term "backsliding" on this show while they were talking about relationships. I thought about all my past relationships and thought, oh crap, that's totally me. But I realized it wasn't with guys for the most part, but food.
How often do you get on "health kicks" where you decide you're going to pretty much become a rabbit for the next two months to see if that helps shed the pounds. Well, it works out great for about 3 weeks, then all you can think about is burgers, chips, chocolate, anything tasty, but totally awful for your body. You backslide, right into those indulgence foods and find yourself feeling awful, and REALLY gassy. I do it all the time. I went on a pitch of being vegetarian for about 2 months, and then it totally fell apart and I drowned in a pool of hamburger grease, milkshake residue, and other unholy things.
How do you fix these things? How do you decide to stop "kicking" yourself and decide to finally make a life change, to eat healthier everyday, not because you know it will help drop the pounds, but because you WANT to eat that food, you don't want to look down and see you at 2000 calories and that was just an appetizer. I'm looking for help doing this. I find myself eating well for days on end, I've even started to like fish, which is new for me. Only to turn around a week later to see a plate full of a 1/2 lb burger and 8 servings of fries, don't worry, we got dessert too.
HOW DO I CHANGE? Well, here is where the challenge begins, I'm going to try new things to help myself eat better and be healthier, not just so I can have a rockin' bod, but to live longer to enjoy bringing sexy back. I'm going to start by eating veggies at one meal a day, at least! I've read small changes make the difference so I'll start with this bad boy and see how it turns out.
Wish me luck

Emotional Baker
So, I have a confession to make.
I'm a closet baker. Sweet tooth to the max. Ok, that was a lie, everyone knows I eat candy like Madonna dates younger men (quite frequently). But anyways I, Dani Miller, am an emotional baker. If I have a bad day, or break up, or didn't get a job I thought I wanted, I bake. Let me tell you, being a total screw up in life has made me quite the skilled artist when it comes to baking.
Why is this important you ask? It isn't, I just wanted to talk about it. I thought I was going to get a job I wanted the other day and I'm still waiting so the entire day all I could think about was what baked good I was going to prepare my greedy lil face. So I was just wondering out there, what does everyone on the interweb do when they get down? Well you know my answer, its bake, or run. Kind of weird that they are total opposites since one contributes to my rather large back end while the other tries desperately, but usually fails to reduce the swole of my back side. It is what it is. But if any of you have great snacky ideas to bake when I get low, I'd love some advice

Sweet Mother of Goodness
Ok,
So as you all know, well my one follower, you know, I have been vegetarian for 20 FULL days now. Quite the accomplishment if you know my track record. It has been difficult, some days I wake up craving a burger so bad I almost claw my eyes out...NOT pretty. But I've been doing it so I am pretty proud of myself.
Now I am saved. I recently was talking with a coworker about expanding my horizons, he said I needed to venture out and try something new with my palette. I was all, listen up homeboy, I just turned vegetarian, if that isn't expanding call me aunt freaking jamima. But whatever. We started talking about me being meat-less and how everyone always asks about it and how I deal with my cravings, which leads back to the eye gouging story. But we continued our conversation and he led me to the light. I have a serious addiction to Chinese food and have been lost without it. Until my glorious friend Matthew told me about Crystal Jade. It is a Chinese restaurant that serves vegan friendly dishes, meaning they are a little different from what I'm used to, but I'll take it just to get that small rush of what I used to feel for the food.
After that I did more research and found an awesome website. www.veganomaha.com This site makes my life. It has amazing blog posts, events, and a bomb restaurant guide, which means I can actually eat out again and fulfill every craving I have. Which leads to one glorious thing, no more eye gouging. Check it out
